I've been to LFWE twice before, each time getting a few key things. I set out this year with the aim of getting a new purse; mine is getting dilapidated and I need something smaller. I also went with the intention of scoring some great bargains by a certain designer whose items I love. Usually I see something and then want it, and after a few days go off it. I love everything by this designer, and it will probably come as no surprise to you that it's Vivienne Westwood. Aimi and I first of all started LFWE off without each other, as we were both at different entrances. I'd done my research and found out that some of my favourite designers were there, and so tried to find them all. Her shopping aim was to get a jumper, and a few key pieces, and mine was to find a purse and some shoes. We also wanted things with big discounts :)
I've gotten something from Juicy Couture each time I have been. I love their t shirts, and I know their tracksuits have a reputation for being a bit chavvy, but I hope that the clothes I have gotten from them aren't awful looking. I steer away from the things that say "JUICY COUTURE" on them really obviously as I think it's a bit tacky when a designer does something like that. If JC can be considered a designer. I have mixed feelings about their stuff, but their t shirts are pretty. I can't find pictures of them online anywhere, as their online stock is not their full in store stock. But I got 3 :) But I DID try on a jacket similar to these two pictures, and almost got it. The reason I didn't was that I couldn't ever see myself wearing it anywhere and because I get cold a lot, I probably need a jacket that covers up my whole torso. (I know the ones I've put here are pea coat style, but the one I tried on was different, but had the gold buttoning going on)
I got a long oversized t shirt from Twenty8Twelve, which is designed by Sienna and Savannah Miller. I believe the name comes from Sienna's birthday. I actually have a bit of a soft spot for Sienna Miller.. she has great fashion sense, although makes some bad judgements, according to the media. I love the simpleness of Twenty8Twelve designs and a lot of them are neutral colours. This can kickstart my neutrally coloured wardrobe, as it's non-existant. I got home and tried the t shirt on..I was originally going to wear it as a nightdress / night t-shirt but it's actually just above knee length and partly not see through like the one in the picture, so I may wear it as a dress with a belt across the middle. (The design on the one I got is different to the one in this picture.. it had a huge discount)
They also have some things on ASOS, none of which make me want to reach for my purse.
Aimi wanted a jumper, and in the outside Terrace, there was a cashmere stall, where she tried on this jumper (see right) She didn't get it (sadly) even though it looked good on her, but she did get another one later on. Mission accomplished. Searching online, I found a gorgeous beanie/beret looking thing by this designer (Semon Cashmere). If I ever wore any headwear, I'd definitely get it. I got a cardigan for over 80% off the original price. I guess we lingered about that stall for a long time because of all the soft and warm cashmere, keeping us warm whilst we were outside!
I looked at some Ducie dresses, which have very simple lines and come in many many many colours. Seriously, they had a swatch thing with all the colours on. I love dresses and always feel like I want more. Maybe I shall hunt around online for them.
The Rubber Cow Company bags were a disappointment to me to say the least. Their bags are environmentally friendly, but the designs aren't that nice. They have a bag, Annabelle, which I wanted to look at, but it doesn't look the same in real life as it does in the photos.
EJF is a foundation that raises awareness of people who are affected by environmental abuses. They produce lots of books and film material to make people more aware, and maintain that environmental security is a human right. They sell t shirts, with print designs designed by designers such as Giles Deacon, John Rocha, Alice Temperley and Christian Lacroix, the latter of whom designed this t shirt. I almost bought a couple of the t shirts, as the designs on them are a little bit different which I like (and also, I don't have that many t shirts), but then remembered that I could get them for a cheaper price elsewhere. I almost told the lady that, but decided (wisely) against it.
There was quite a big display of Les Nereides jewellery, which is of French design. They had a pixel mania collection, which Aimi has written about in her blog post. She debated whether to get a necklace, which had had a princess, ghost, control bad, pixelated heart and a game over character. The other things in this collection were characters from old school games, where the characters are made of several pixels. Very cool. I got a necklace of a dancing girl, though I wanted lots more. A lot of the earrings and necklaces were based around a circus theme, which was something very very different. I also love this brooch of the gingerbread house. It makes me hungry looking at it, but I've never seen anything like it before! It would look so good on a blazer or a plain jacket, t shirt and jeans.
Discovered Elizabeth Lau, whose jumpers are so cute... the white one was marked down from $2390, which MUST have been a different currency... maybe like Hong Kong dollars, as then you just knock off the 0 for an approximate converted price. Her cardigans were sparkly and cute, all very cute. I now need to find out if she has a physical store or not.
We looked at Anna Lou of London jewellery, which has lots of cute playful and almost retro style pieces, with bright shapes, bright colours and plastic charms. I shall definitely be checking out the online store! Right before closing time,we headed to the accessories tent where I looked at Lola Rose, whose jewellery I really love, but it's really expensive. The pendants were really cheap so I got two :) We also admired Clara Francis' jewellery, which looks incredibly intricate and very detailed... and also a bit quirky. I'm not sure I'd wear earrings with hot air balloons on them, but they were very pretty nonetheless!
And lastly, I didn't get to see Vivienne Westwood things. I think we must have missed that part out :-( But I got lovely lovely things.... 9 things (which should have cost well over £500 had I bought them at full retail price) for a fraction of that price =)
