Never in my life have I
been outside of Europe

The one person who can drive me nuts is
there's more than one person. But usually it's things they do, rather than the person they are.

High school was
a great experience!

When I’m nervous,
I fidget and get physical symptoms of anxiety

The last song I listened to was
All Of the Lights by Kanye West and all those other people, because I wanted to check song and video quality to put it in a blog post.

If I were to get married right now my maid of honour would be
hm. this requires serious thought.

My hair is
annoying

When I was 5
I used to be good at maths and my best friend was called Lindsey

Last Christmas I
was at home with ma famille, and it was very cold

I should be
eating properly

The happiest recent event was
I'm happy a lot of the time. one of those times when things 'click' a little bit. also, dinner with the boy

By this time next year I will
be in the same position as I am now! looming exams and not eating or sleeping properly

There’s this girl I know
who stresses more than I do

I like you when you
read my blog

The world could do without
violence of any sort

Most recent thing I’ve bought myself is a
went to the supermarket earlier, got eggs, cheese, soup, oats, chicken

Most recent thing someone else bought me is
er, i'm not sure actually. i pay for things myself now mostly. let's just say one time at dinner

My middle name is
non-existant

The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are
giraffes

Once, at a bar
I cried with laughter at someone's story. (must go back there)

Last night I was
completely exhausted, so sat in bed with a book and watched Junior Doctors

There’s this guy I know
who never asks me how I am when we see each other

Tomorrow I am
one day older than i am today

Tonight I am
studying, thinking about having dinner and tidying up

My birthday is
soon!!!!!

shot like a falling star

1. What do you think you can do but can't?
I think I can be quiet.  Not really true.  I have a way of walking, especially when I'm going to hospitals, that makes me noisy.  When I go to the library, I make lots of noise initially when I am getting things out of my bag.... I also have no 'indoor' voice.

2. What's a difficult word for you to pronounce?
"encephalopathy" and "satiated".  Not entirely sure why, as written down, they look like they're easy to say.  Well, not so much for me.

3. What is a favorite TV show from your childhood?
To be honest, I didn't watch that much TV when I was younger.  I remember the Queen's Nose though.  I loved that TV show.  I remember there was a character called Melody, or Melanie, and she was the sister of the main characters.  It was based on a book by Dick King-Smith, whose books I loved when I was much younger.

4. What are your virtues and vices?
I can't believe I have to look up what they mean.  Let's take 'virtue' to mean "something admirable about yourself" (google definitions).  I suppose... I am organised and I remember dates and names quite well.  I motivate myself well and recognise when truly I cannot motivate myself (as opposed to not being bothered to motivate myself in the first place).  I like to talk, and I suppose I always have something to say (not sure if that's admirable or not).
Let's take 'vice' to mean 'bad habit or weakness' (google definitions).  I eat too much cake / chocolate.. I rarely look both ways when I am crossing a quiet-ish road - I rely on my hearing to know if a car / cyclist is coming by.  I have picked up a lot of bad driving habits, which most people do after they pass their test.  I also don't eat properly / much.

5. What's more important: love, fame, power, or money?
It may come as no surprise, but I actually believe that love is the most important of these four.
I have no desire to be famous, I am happy being who I am and doing what I do.  I don't like the way the media portrays famous people, and they pick up on every single detail.  I could never be in the public eye like that.  Fame can have negative connotations, and this is what bothers me when you read the newspapers / online media.
I have no desire for power, because I would hate to be in charge of a state / country / company.  Whatever decision you make, it affects some people, even if just a minority.  I am not one for wanting to have control over everyone and everything, and I believe that there are some people better suited to power, those that think they are suited to power and those that are not suited to power.
Money is not that big of an issue - I can live comfortably within my means, and even though it would always be nice to have extra money, I would feel guilty because people can benefit from a large sum of money better.  For example, we were talking about the Lottery the other day - I have long held strong ideas about what I would do I won a large sum of money.  I would keep some for myself to buy a house and go travelling, and then donate a part of it and give the rest to my parents.
So, in the end, love is most important.  I have a lot of it in my life, from my parents and family, from my friends and from my boyfriend.  It is not something you can physically hold or physically define: it is an emotion that brings people together. I would hate to have no love at all in my life: I would see myself as being lonely and sad.

6. If you could live in any era/time period, when would it be and why?
I would absolutely love to live during the Regency Era.  I see it as a very old fashioned glamorous period (for the wealthy).  I know little bits about history, and this period appeals to me greatly.

7. If you had to redo your entire wardrobe with 2 stores, what would they be and why?
My wardrobe consists of many Primark clothes, and various others from many different stores.  I feel like Primark has gone downhill a little bit, the quality of some of their things is not as long lasting.  Hm... so I shall pick... H&M and Topshop: not that expensive and there's always something in there that I want!
Edit: I actually want ASOS in there.  So ASOS + other shop of current fancy.

8. Can you recall what you were doing a year ago on this day?
Hm.  19 March 2010.  Let me consult my blog....  I wrote a post on 20 March 2010.  In all truth, I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but I was probably had lectures, saw friends and watched a film.  The post I have linked explains what I was doing this time last year.

9. Do you have reoccurring dreams? If so, explain?
I do actually, but I don't really want to write about them here.  I often write about my dreams, if they're interesting, or if I need to gain some sort of closure from them.  My dreams can be very odd, and I feel as though (as silly as it sounds) that they show me something about my life or something from the past or from the future, and it helps me to process what has happened if I write about it.  And sometimes those writings make it to published blog posts.  I have one most often recurring dream; it unsettles me everytime I have it, so I would rather not write about it here.

10. What's your horoscope?
I am a Leo.  I googled what my sign means.  There is a very long description of my zodiac sign on http://www.astrology-online.com/leo.htm.  Whatever you read, it is vaguely and loosely true, but not wholly.  I am also a Dragon in the Chinese Zodiac, which I affiliate with more than the 12 starsign way, probably because of my upbringing.  Again, a lot of the descriptions for Dragons are very similar to the way I am.

11. What does your dream bedroom look like?
Spacious, warm and light.  Not too much clutter but enough room for my things.  Also, calming.

12. What position do you sleep in?
On my back.  It's the most comfortable and it's better for your skin.  I don't understand how other people go to sleep on their sides... or on their front??  I know I'd find it hard to breathe if I kept sleeping on my front.

13. Who is your favorite vampire of all time?
???

14. What are you currently wearing on your feet?
Nothing... I don't wear anything on my feet when I'm in my flat.

15. Do you have neat handwriting? Show us!
Haha, no I don't.  It's passably legible at the best of times.  It depends how fast I need to write.  This was normal speed....

"Action. What will you do next year that you've been putting off for too long?"

This is the 20SB blog swap post, except mine never got back to me, so here I am, posting this on my own blog.

Next year... I will make the effort to cook more meals that do not involve the current major Carol food groups of: chocolate, bread/toast and pasta.  These things are the go-to foods when I am just too tired to be imaginative and creative with my food choices, or when I feel ill and want some comfort food.  I cook a really nice meal for myself for my birthday and for Chinese New Year, as these are important days, the latter in particular, but other than that, it doesn't get all creative or anything.

I've been living away from home for a few years now, and I still very much look forward to coming home and having food made for me.

I will also keep my table tidy.  I write notes to myself, or important things and leave them on pieces of bright pink paper so that I will see them.. I have pens and papers and all sorts on my work table, and it gets a bit much sometimes.  I will also keep my piece-of-furniture -in-lieu-of-a-vanity tidy (a vanity is something where you put make-up and mirrors and other such things, and mine has magazines and books, a clock, hair things, creams and jewellery all over it in a very disorganised manner.  That is the one thing in my room that requires the most time to tidy up, and it is the one thing I hate to tidy the most.  So I will make more effort to do so.

In terms of really answering the point of this post... I'm not really sure there is anything I have been putting off... more, delaying (and these are things I would do in time).  I don't have any big plans I have been delaying (have I?)... but expect to see reflections upon this in the not too faraway future =)

As a side note, the snow has really messed up the country's transport, and people keep citing Canada as an amazing example of snow-handling.  I accept that they are better equipped to handle snow, but the UK sadly is NOT, and a comparison to Canada isn't helping that much.... I hope that everyone's braving the snow if they need to, and being safe!  A lot of the trains and planes are cancelled / delayed, and I am so thankful that I didn't need to use any form of air transport this holiday.  Handling a train concourse full of irate people was bad enough!!

you are a trendsetter

Today has been purposefully unproductive.  I've been feeling a bit ill for the best part of the past three weeks.  First of all, there was the temperature + dry cough for a week.  Then I ate something strange or a bit off, and had bad stomach pain for a while (I've only had bad food poisoning once, but I get it often if I don't cook something properly) and this weekend just gone I have been feeling like I am burning up with a fever, then had the shivery and feeling faint stage a couple of days ago.

So I had today as a sort of 'do a little bit of productive stuff but have a rest' day.  I had a random memory of Tia from CGGB assigning me a letter from a post she did AGES ago, from which I had to think of six (or seven? or am I making it up?) things beginning with that letter I liked.

I don't really remember the specifics, but I felt like doing it today.  My letter was 'V' so here we go, with some tenuous links....

1. Vivienne Westwood... so quintessentially quirky. I love her as a designer; her dresses are always a bit crazy and kooky, but I love it.  The shop at World's End has a beautiful design too, and I used to love walking past there, looking wistfully in as I don't go into shops if I can't afford things in them.  But now I want some VV shoes, maybe I can make a special trip there!!

2. Vintage dresses - very tenuous link.  I tried on both these dresses in the 'vintage' section of the flagship Topshop.  That's my link.  I love dresses.  I would wear them allllll the time if it were feasible and I could afford to get more.

both these images are my own!

3. Vanilla smelling things remind me of lazy evenings in, burning candles and waking up in the morning to have the room filled with vanilla-y smell.  It also reminds me of fun shopping trips, and the summer.  I also have a vanilla spray thing I use sometimes instead of perfume which I love.  Although vanilla tasting things.... not so sure.

4. Vodka... need I say more, really

5. Vampires - tenuous link to TVD and Twilight (and possibly True Blood when I get round to watching  it)

6. Vacations - I love going away, or seeing my family or having real down time.  Sometimes I wish I could just escape my life for a weekend and fly away.

7. Velvet cake... just look at these and get virtual diabetes.  Or at the very least, tiny hunger pangs.

8. Vogue.  Again, need I say more really.  If I'm feeling sad or low or ill, one of my favourite things to do when I am on my own is to read magazines in bed and eat huge bars of chocolate... it's one of my guilty pleasures.

9. Velvet ... I'm usually not a person who likes texture-y things but I like velvet and satin-y feeling things.  But then other times...

All images from google images, except the two of me, which are my own.

1.Thing you cannot leave the house without
Depends actually.  I often go out without my phone if it's just to the supermarket or if I just don't want it near me.  I leave money at home if I don't want to spend anything while I am out.  I guess... keys.  Yes, otherwise I would never be able to get back in...
